Zlatan Ibrahimovic has the chance to join Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes as a Man United legend

A 35-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic is close to agreeing a return to Manchester United, according to recent reports.

The Swede has already silenced the many doubters who said he was too old for the Premier League, but coming back from a serious injury at the age of 35 and succeeding for United will top last season’s exploits, when he was the club’s top-scorer.

Ibrahimovic is already a member of a select group of players to have donned United colours past the age of 35, and only a handful of them can be deemed to have succeeded at the club after that age.

The former AC Milan, Barcelona, and PSG player has already won one trophy after his 35th birthday, although he was on the sidelines for the Europa League final having been injured in the quarter-final second leg against Anderlecht.

However, if he can add to his trophy count, not to mention his goals tally, he would rival club legends like Ryan Giggs and Edwin Van der Sar in excelling for United after turning 35.

Check out the other players who had successful careers for United past the age of 35 in our gallery above.
