Cristiano Ronaldo has just about pipped Lionel Messi to being 2016’s best goal scorer according to rankings compiled by the International Federation of History and Statistics (IFFHS).
With nine Ballon d’Or awards between them, it was always going to be close.
The Portuguese leads the way with 24 goals scored internationally.
