PREMIER LEAGUE

Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan each scored twice as Manchester City crushed West Bromwich Albion 4-0 on Saturday to reclaim first place in the Premier League from Arsenal.

Arsenal won 4-1 at Sunderland, with substitute Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez both scoring twice, but City’s win kept Pep Guardiola’s side top on goal difference.

Jose Mourinho was sent to the stands and Ander Herrera was dismissed as Manchester United drew 0-0 with Burnley despite dominating the game, while champions Leicester City drew 1-1 at Tottenham Hotspur.

Watford piled on the misery for struggling Hull as Michael Dawson’s late own goal condemned the visitors to a painful 1-0 loss.

Liverpool kept pace with Premier League top two Manchester City and Arsenal with a dramatic 4-2 success at Crystal Palace.

LA LIGA

Sevilla‘s struggles away from home in La Liga cost Jorge Sampaoli’s men top spot as lowly Sporting Gijon held the Europa League holders to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to goalscoring form with his first hat-trick of the season despite also missing a penalty as Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of La Liga with a 4-1 win at Alaves on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid remain just three points back of their city rivals thanks to doubles from Yannick Carrasco and Kevin Gameiro in a nervy 4-2 win over Malaga despite playing with 10 men for the final half hour.

BUNDESLIGA

Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben combined for all three goals as Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich eased to an impressive 3-1 victory for their second win over Augsburg this week.

Having also beaten their Bavarian neighbours by the same margin on Wednesday at home in the German Cup, Bayern completed the double thanks to Robben’s outstanding display with two assists and a goal.
