Cristiano Ronaldo was the centre of attention at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado airport on Saturday ahead of Portugal’s flight to Russia for the World Cup.

The Real Madrid idol, who cast doubt over his Los Blancos future following last month’s Champions League success over Liverpool, will once again captain the Euro 2016 winners this summer.

Looking relaxed in his team suit, he put a thumbs up to his waiting fans and also posted a picture on his own social media channels.

It could be a defining next few weeks for the 33-year-old, with speculation he could leave Madrid after he finishes his duties with his country.

Portugal open their Group B campaign with a mouthwatering clash against Spain at the Fisht Olympic Stadium on June 15.
