India completed a convincing 246-run victory over England in the second Test at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Monday.

Resuming their second innings on 67-2, England were never going to go for the target of 405 on a pitch that wasn’t the worst we have seen in India in the recent past, but had a lot of uneven bounce nevertheless.

England’s collapse started early on day five as Ben Duckett again fell victim to the off-spin of Ravichandran Ashwin, dismissed for a duck.

Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes fell soon after and despite Joe Root still being in the middle, England were never really in the game.

It was Mohammed Shami who put the final nail in the coffin by bowling a brilliant over at Root. The England number three batsman was beautifully set-up by Shami, before being dismissed off the final delivery of the over.

Shami was to strike soon again, dismissing Adil Rashid for just four to reduce the visitors to 142-7 at lunch.

There wasn’t much fight from the English lower-order as they were finally bowled out for 158, with Jonny Bairstow left stranded on 34 not out. Jayant Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin were India’s most impressive bowlers, with three wickets each.

Indian captain Virat Kohli was named the Man of the Match for his scores of 167 and 81.
