IN PICS: Five early exits for Andy Murray at major tournaments after shock Australian Open loss

World No. 1 Sir Andy Murray crashed out of the Australian Open after a shock loss to German Mischa Zverev on Sunday.

Murray was looking to add to his three Grand Slam titles, but his pursuit of a maiden Australian Open title will have to wait another year after Zverev’s 7-5 5-7 6-2 6-4 win.

It is Murray’s earliest exit at a Grand Slam since the 2015 US Open, when he lost in the fourth round to Kevin Anderson.

Murray had looked well on course for a fourth Grand Slam after breezing through the first three rounds, and his hopes were boosted by Novak Djokovic’s shock second-round loss, but the Scot has instead joined his great rival in crashing out at Melbourne.

Sport360 looks at other occasions where Murray has made early exits at big tournaments since 2008.
