US Open defending champion and world No1 Rafael Nadal has a tricky start to his campaign.

Nadal starts on Monday with an emotional 31st career clash with good friend and Davis Cup teammate David Ferrer. The former world No3 Ferrer has dropped out of the top 100 and is set to retire at the end of the year.

Speaking about the match, Nadal said: “We are good friends and he has been an amazing player for such a long time.”
