The 2015 Davis Cup draw will take place in Dubai during the ITF Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be hosted in the northern emirate this month.

The draw, which will reveal which nations will be facing off in the opening round of Davis Cup next year, is scheduled for Thursday September 19 at 19:00.

This year’s Davis Cup World Group semi-finals (Switzerland v Italy, France v Czech Republic), World Group play-offs and Zone Group ties, will be held from September 12-14.

The winners of the two semi-finals will contest the 2014 World Group Final on November 21-23. The winners of the eight World Group play-offs will qualify for the 2015 World Group, while the losers will contest their respective Zone Group I competition in 2015.

The ITF AGM will be staged for the first time in West Asia or Middle East and will see close to 200 top officials from the world of tennis from across the world gathered at Madinat Jumeirah from September 16-18.

“For us at Tennis Emirates, the holding of the AGM in the UAE, in general, and in Dubai in particular, is a great honour for the people of the UAE and we expect huge advantages to boost the game of tennis in the country,” says Abdulrahman Falaknaz, the vice president of Tennis Emirates. “The fact that all the world tennis bosses will be congregating on Dubai, in itself, will lay the foundation of tennis seriousness and awareness amongst the organisers and directors of tennis in the area.”

Another highlight during the AGM will be an attempt to set a first-time Guinness World Record by creating a mosaic using tennis balls to depict the three-finger victory sign of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Guinness World Record attempt will be held at the events arena of Jumeirah Beach Hotel at 17:30 on September 17.

Meanwhile, the ITF announced the team nominations for the upcoming Davis Cup semi-finals and play-off ties.
