Jamie Murray was unable to restore family pride at Wimbledon when he and partner John Peers were beaten 7-6 (7/5), 6-4, 6-4 by Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in the men’s doubles final on Saturday.
The Dutch-Romanian pairing won 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-4 in one hour and 52 minutes.
Murray had hoped to claim his first men’s doubles slam title having previously teamed up with Jelena Jankovic to win the mixed doubles in 2007.

The 29-year-old was watched by his younger brother Andy, just 24 hours after his singles semi-final defeat to Roger Federer. Murray and Peers had three chances to break serve in the first five games but could not convert, and Rojer and Tecau took advantage.
Rojer converted a third set point in the tie-break, and when Peers netted a volley to drop serve early in the second a 2-0 lead was always on the cards.
A Peers double fault invited huge pressure at 4-4 in the third set and Rojer struck at the net to clinch the break.
The fourth seeds served out the match to love, with Romania’s Tecau finally getting his hands on the trophy after finishing runner-up three times at past Wimbledons.
