Jaziri creates history to reach Kremlin Cup semis

09:49 04/12/2013

Arab No1 Malek Jaziri is through to the Kremlin Cup semi-final in Moscow after defeating the Czech Republic’s Lukas Rosol in straight sets today.

Jaziri, who came through the last-eight clash 7-6 (7/5), 6-3, becomes the first Tunisian player to reach a Tour semi-final.

“I’m really happy to reach the semifinals here,” Jaziri said. “And if I’m lucky enough, why not make my first ATP final?”

The 28-year-old world No112 will face Italy’s Andreas Seppi for a place in the final after the second seed breezed past his Japanese opponent Tatsuma Ito 6-2, 6-1.

Ivo Karlovic is also through to the semi-finals after a straight sets victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin, the big-serving Croatian emerging victorious 7-6 (7/4), 6-3.

He will take on either Thomaz Belucci from Brazil or Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz.
