Nadal to make return at star-studded Mubadala Championship

09:37 04/12/2013

Rafael Nadal will make his long-awaited return to singles action in Abu Dhabi this December after he was confirmed as part of a star-studded line-up for the fifth Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

The 11-time Grand Slam winner will start his season at the International Tennis Complex alongside last year’s champion, Novak Djokovic, and man of the moment Andy Murray – who won the inaugural MWTC event in 2009.

Roger Federer has not been included in the line-up for 2012 as organisers look to celebrate those three former MWTC champions, but they have put together the strongest roster in the event’s short history, with Nadal’s compatriot David Ferrer, Czech star Tomas Berdych and Djokovic’s Davis Cup team-mate Janko Tipsarevic ensuring all six have been drawn from the world’s top nine.

The six players will do battle in Zayed Sports City between December 27 and 29 for a winner-takes-all prize of $250,000 (Dh918,262).

Tickets are on sale now priced from Dh100 for children and Dh150 for adults, from www.thinkflash.ae
