  • Tunisian Malek Jaziri will become the first Arab in eight years to break into the top 100 of the men’s tennis rankings, when the new list is released on Monday.

The 28-year-old capped off a successful two weeks in Japan and China, where he made the finals of back-to-back Challengers in Kyoto and Pingguo, by entering the top 100 for the first time in his career.

Jaziri won his first Challenger title last November in Geneva and has made three Challenger finals out of five showings so far this season.

The last Arab to feature in the top 100 was former world No.14 Younes Al Aynaoui. The Moroccan along with his compatriots Karim Alami and Hicham Arazi, Egyptian Ismail El Shafei and Jaziri are the only players from the region to enjoy such an achievement in the Open Era (since 1968).
