Abu Dhabi Saracens hope to inflict more damage on Jebel Ali Dragons

Abu Dhabi Saracens will need no motivation as they welcome champions Jebel Ali Dragons to the capital on Friday night, hoping to inflict successive defeats.

Dragons travel to Al Ghazal looking to get their season back on track after suffering their first defeat against Dubai Hurricanes, 26-24, last week.

Sarries, on the other hand, clipped Xodus Wasps’ wings last Friday, storming to a 64-20 win.

Sarries chairman Dave Jackson admitted he was excited and nervous about the game.

He said: “They’ve lost their proud, unbeaten record and we’re coming off a big win against Wasps and we’ve been a thorn in their side in the last year or so.”

Sarries will be without the influential pair of player/coach Ali Thompson and full-back kicking machine Dougie Steele, who both have other commitments.

“We’re missing a few players so we’ll be digging deep, but we’ll go out to have fun and the players won’t need any motivating with it being Dragons,” Jackson said.

Sarries will also have an eye on the Canes and Exiles game. If Canes win, it will guarantee Sarries a place in the Gulf Top Six.

Backs coach Steve Hamilton said: “It’s positive in the Sarries camp. The table is wide open and we are looking to improve on the Wasps’ performance.”
