Over 700 young rugby players from across the Gulf head to Doha this weekend, March 21, for the final leg of the HSBC Youth Series 2013/14.

The series’ prizes are up for grabs at the Qatar event, with teams ranging from under-7 to under-18 all competing for awards.

Ex-Scotland scrumhalf and captain, Rory Lawson, will be at the rugby providing coaching tips to all those involved as part of HSBC’s dedicated Skills Zone.

With rugby one of the growing sports in the Middle East, Lawson praised the regions commitment to the grassroots side of the game.

“Having spent some time in the region now, I’ve been amazed by the energy and commitment shown by everyone involved in keeping the game so alive at the junior level,” Lawson said.

“It’s as this early stage that kids form lifelong bonds with one another and with the sport, so the HSBC Youth Rugby Series is a fantastic tool for supporting the growth of the game.”
