It’s nine years to the day since Jonny Wilkinson and Jason Robinson made fairytale returns as England battered Scotland in the opening Six Nations match.

After 1,169 long days away following an interminable run of injuries and just 45 minutes of action after lacerating a kidney, Wilkinson returned in one of sport’s greatest comebacks.

The England No10 scored 27 points, including a controversial second-half try, while Robinson grabbed two tries as England put Scotland to the sword in a 42-20 win.

Wilkinson’s tally beat Rob Andrew’s previous highest haul for England against Scotland and he was awarded the manof-the-match award.
