Australia captain Dean Mumm recognises the need for a bonus-point victory on Sunday’s clash.

A four-try win is key for the Wallabies, who missed out on the additional point in their opening 28-13 triumph over Fiji, if they are to progress to the knockouts.

The Wallabies next play England on October 3 and Wales a week later in matches which will determine if they advance to the quarter-finals.

“It’s a big game for us, because it’s our second World Cup game and a great opportunity for us as a side to maintain or increase momentum we brought from the Fiji game and that’s the key to what we want,” Mumm said.

“We see it as a great opportunity to come up against a very good and extremely stiff opposition, a team that is immeasurably passionate about playing for their country.”

Mumm will become the first New Zealand-born player to captain the Wallabies in the professional era.

The former Exeter Chiefs lock, whose grandfather Bill Mumm played for the All Blacks, said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be captain of any side but to captain your
nation at a World Cup is a particularly special one and one that I never anticipated that I would ever get the opportunity to do.”

It’s been a whirlwind dew days for Mumm who, after being named captain, was by his wife Sarah’s side as she gave birth to a baby boy.
