Developing new technologies is never an easy feat but ASICS have succeeded.
The MetaRun took three years to develop and in that process they created two main technologies: a Hybrid Gel named X Gel and a new midsole foam called FlyteFoam.
The former is a hybrid hightech gel that is a refinement of the cushioning system that has been ASICS’ signature for almost two decades.

And FlyteFoam is a newly patented midsole material, about 55 per cent lighter than industry standard foam used in other shoes.
Ultimately, this is a concept shoe and they have been given a limited release to reflect that, so don’t expect too many pairs to be on the feet of fellow runners at your workout spots.
However, what you get here is an impressive example of the future. The MetaRun shows what their developers can do when let off the leash and these groundbreaking technologies are expected to filter through to other models in the not-too-distant future.
It’s a support shoe that is ideal for road running but just look at them! Aesthetically they exude a sleek elegance with the black, gold and onyx colour scheme.
You almost can’t bear taking them for a run for ruining them. When you do, though, the new technologies notably reduce the pressure on the feet, providing a sock-like fit without losing any durability.
