Tayseer and Leoni FC were crowned champions in the Ahdaaf Cup, powered by Nike.

Tayseer won the men’s event and the AED20,000 prize, while Leoni FC took the AED10,000 spoils for the women’s competition.

The final night of action saw the semi-final and a finals played in both tournaments.

Tayseer were 2-1 victors over the previously unbeaten Marhoom Humaid Aref in their semi final. This set up a final showdown against Guns and Moses who needed penalties to get past Jumeira.

The final was a thriller, with Tayseer eventually getting the better of things 4-3.

In the women’s side, Leoni needed penalties to see off the challenge of Dubai AllStar after a goalless draw in their semi final.

Going into the night Fireballs had a 100% record, having not conceded a goal. They kept up their good form, but did concede for the first time in a 4-1 win over Dubai Warriors.

Fireballs had beaten Leoni 1-0 in the pool stages, but the women in purple were able to thrown the form book out of the window clinching the title on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

About the Ahdaaf Cup

Played on two Nike-branded pitches, in the Al Quoz industrial area, teams will compete against each other in a league table format before progressing onto the knockout stages of the competition. Matches are played in a five-a-side format with sides allowed to register seven players in the squad, who can be used in rotation during the game.

Teams are competing over ten days as they battle it out for the winner’s trophy.

There’s competition for both males and females as 24 men’s teams who will be looking to take home a share of the Dhs 30,000 grand prize. The Nike slogan for the tournament, which is emblazoned around the pitches, says ‘End it with speed, end it with precision’, which is exactly what the teams will have to do as matches are just 30 minutes in length.
