City Swim 2017 Dubai returns as over 200 people take to the water at Kite Beach

As part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, over 200 swimmers gathered on Saturday for the second City Swim 2017 Dubai which took place on Kite Beach.

The open water event saw swimmers of all ages and from as young as seven covering a range of distances varying from 250 meters to 2,500 meters .

Originating from the canals in Amsterdam and Hudson River in New York, the open water swimming event is now in its second year and attracts keen swimmers as well as those new to the sport to the beautiful beaches of Dubai.

A spokesperson for the event said: “City Swim Dubai offers a unique opportunity for swimmers of all abilities a safe and fun environment to enjoy the sport and we are delighted with this morning’s event and the increase in popularity since we first launched. It’s also been fantastic to be part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge this morning and seeing so many people support us in making Dubai the fittest place in the world. Thanks must go to everyone that has helped make this event a great success and to all our sponsors.”

The event finished with a celebratory breakfast provided by Park House, located on Kite Beach as well as a prize giving for swimmers in each category.
