Zaid Ashkanani from Kuwait and Edy Saaiby from Dubai – the two Middle East racing talents taking part in a thrilling weekend of racing at the Norisring in Germany and in front of an impressive crowd of 123,500 spectators – both made it to the podium.

The two drivers, supported by Audi Middle East, were taking part in the Audi Sport TT Cup, which
was part of the supporting program for DTM, in which Audi made history when their drivers Edoardo Mortara and Nico Müller were finally triumphant after 14 years.

In fact, they won both the races. But the DTM drivers were not the only ones who had reason to celebrate as Ashkanani and Saaiby delivered solid performances in highly competitive fields at the Audi Sport TT Cup.

Ashkanani, 22, demonstrated his talent with a seventh position overall in Race 1 and 12th in Race 2 and thus secured himself second place in both races in his class.

“I had a great time and finishing second as a guest driver made me enjoy my time here even more. Especially as it is my first time in the TT Cup car and my first time on this challenging track,” said the Kuwaiti.

Saaiby, who scored 14th overall and fourth in his class in the first race, was 15th overall and third
among the guest drivers in the second race.

The 32-year-old said, “This was an amazing weekend and a great experience. The young talents in the Audi Sport TT Cup are incredibly fast and it was a real challenge to compete with them.”

Participating among the guest drivers were such legendary names as WEC driver Lucas di Grassi, Spanish race car driver Marcos Martinez and Bundesliga coach Michael Henke.
