The top eight ranked male and female players in the PSA Road to Dubai rankings will contest the prestigious PSA World Series Finals on May 24-28 in a purpose-built venue in Burj Park, Downtown Dubai.

World number one Mohamed Elshorbagy dominated the male qualification events with his sixth straight PSA World Title win before an appreciative home crowed in El Gouna, Egypt last time out.

The women’s line-up was finalised in March and will feature new world champion and world number one Nour El Sherbini of Egypt.

She will be joined by world number two Laura Massaro of England, eight-time World Champion Nicol David of Malaysia, Egyptian Raneem El Welily, Camille Serme of France, Omneya Abdel Kawy of Egypt, Amanda Sobhy of USA, and Egypt’s Nouran Gohar.

Going into the final qualification event, the top four players – El Shorbagy, world champion Gregory Gaultier, former world number one and world champion Nick Matthew and Omar Mosaad – had already secured a spot in the Finals.

The battle for the remaining four spots was in the balance in Egypt, with three-time world champion Ramy Ashour just a semi-final finish away from qualifying, before having to withdraw due to a recurring hamstring problem.

The top four will now be joined by Mathieu Castagnet of France, Miguel Angel Rodriguez of Colombia, Simon Rosner of Germany and Cameron Pilley of Australia.

“The PSA Dubai World Series Finals points to the emirate’s growing reputation as the place to stage thrilling end of season tournaments and we look forward to hosting the world’s very best as they compete for this coveted title,” said Dubai Sports Council secretary general, His Excellency Saeed Hareb.

“The atmosphere generated at the innovative tournament venue in Burj Park Downtown Dubai will not only provide excellent entertainment for spectators but will hopefully spur interest in the sport across the board.”

Tickets to see the top eight men and women in the world compete for one of the most important titles on the world tour, the PSA Dubai World Series Finals on 24-28 May are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
