The fourth edition of the Ignite Pink is Punk Swim: Run takes place on Friday and it’s still not late to enter as organisers will be accepting registrations on the day.

Raising funds for the Safe and Sound Breast Cancer Awareness, the annual swim, run event will be held at Anantara, The Palm Resort and Spa in Dubai, beginning at 07:15.

Open to people aged 16 years and above, you can take part in the individual or team events.

The Open category consists of 600m swim, 3km beach and pavement run, while the Sprint event is 400m swim and a 1.6km beach and pavement run. Juniors can enjoy a 200m swim and a 800m beach run, while there is also the Fun Run which consists of 3km beach and pavement run. Adults willing to sign up on Friday will have to pay Dh165 as fees and juniors Dh65. Teams’ registration will cost Dh265.

The previous three editions have been successful with over Dh120,000 raised and Guillaume Mariole, founder and managing director of Ignite Fitness and Wellness, is calling for more people to take part.

He said: “The response has been great so far with around 180 people already signed up, and it would be great if that number increases on  the day. Cancer is a term used every day in different conversations. Breast cancer can affect anyone that we know and the message is we are supporting a cause that is giving back to the community.

“It’s family-friendly and one of the things it addresses is encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

“We’ve created this event that is relevant for everyone to be active and creating awareness and raising money for a great cause.

“It’s a great way for families and friends to stay fit in what will be a fun environment. It’s also a way of introducing the event to children as a method of how important exercise is to a person’s body.

“And it can also educate people on how serious breast cancer is and at Ignite we want to do our bit in raising awareness and the community pulling together.”

There will be prizes for the male and female winners of each category as well as additional prizes for some of the participants.

Every fils raised will be donated to charity; and even if you aren’t competing, you can still show your support as a spectator for Dh150.

“People who come but don’t want to take part are still welcome,” said Mariole. “We want many people to attend and show their support. People can buy selected products or even donate on the day. Every penny will make a difference.”
