Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt has reiterated that Andrew Wiggins isn’t going anywhere and will get the chance to play with LeBron James.

With speculation that Cleveland could trade Wiggins, the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft, for Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love, Blatt insists the 19-year-old is remaining in Ohio.

“There’s no reason or cause for worry on his part because Andrew’s not going anywhere, as far as I know and as far as the club has expressed,” Blatt said, after the Cavs Summer League practice in Las Vegas. “I would think for a guy like Andrew, to have the opportunity to play with arguably one of the best players of all time, and to learn from him and to be tutored by him and to play alongside him – which he will – I’ve got to think that’s a tremendous boost to his confidence and his comfort level and probably his motivation.”

The Cavs have reportedly direc-tly assured Wiggins that he won’t be traded but are still expected to pursue Love without offering the Canadian teenager, although Minnesota are considered adamant on the super prospect being included.

James, meanwhile, has finalised his contract with the team, signing a two-year deal worth $42.1m (Dh154.6m), which includes an opt-out after next season.

The contract is structured to give James flexibility while also allowing him to re-sign with Cleveland when max contracts increase in value due to the league’s new television deal in 2016.
