Though the Nissan Triathlon Festival was postponed due to poor weather, it has been rescheduled to give athletes another opportunity to compete in the popular race.

– Atlantis set to host final Nissan Triathlon Festival of the season

The event was originally going to run on Friday, April 3, but because of severe conditions caused by a sandstorm, the race was postponed for safety reasons after consultation with the Dubai Police and RTA.

Now, the Festival will be held on Friday, April 17, still at the iconic Atlantis Resort on The Palm, Dubai.

If you missed out on registering earlier, you can now sign up for the new date from now until midnight on Sunday, April 12.

For athletes who had already registered and are unable to make the new date, Race ME will issue credit to any of their events until the end of 2015, while athletes who were travelling from overseas will be issued a refund.

Both inquiries must be made by midnight on Friday, April 10, by contacting andy@race-me-events.com.

The Festival will once again be open to competitors of all abilities and ages 11 and above.

Beginners and newcomers can race the sprint distance of a 750 metre swim, 20 kilometre bike and 5k run in triathlon, or the 750m swim and 5k run in the aquathon.

More advanced and experienced participants who want to push themselves can take part in the Olympic distance with a 1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run in the triathlon, or the 1.5k swim and 10k run in the aquathon.

Team categories are also available for both distances in triathlon and aquathon, while the Corporate Challenge sprint distance triathlon is perfect for teams of work colleagues – requiring at least one female athlete – to build teamwork in a fun and competitive way.

Not just for those racing, the Festival will have an Athlete’s Village and kids’ fun zone for the whole family to enjoy activities and entertainment.

The event starts early in the morning at 06:00, with race pack collection at the venue on the day. Included in the registration is timing, a finisher medal, a finisher t-shirt and goody bag.
