UAE resident Olivier Godart won the men’s Olympic race of the Activelife by Daman 2014 TriYAS at Yas Marina Circuit yesterday.

Godart crossed the line in a time of 1:52.46, beating Omar Nour of Egypt, who finished in 1:54.20.

Third place in the top division went to Andy MacRae, who completed the race in 1:57.30.

“I’m really, really happy but it was a hard core race,” said Godart after the event.

“That being said, I’d rather win by less than two minutes and give everything, than have an easy race and win by 10 minutes,” Godart added of the event, which attracted a record 1,400 participants. 

The women’s open Olympic race was dominated by Lisa Hancox from Great Britain, who crossed the finishing line in a time of 2:19.37.

Shannon Benson was second in a time of 2:22.49 followed by Aline Vacheron (2:25.25).

In the 15-17 age group for boys’ duathlon, Finn Bartlett Williams from the United Kingdom finished in a time of 33 min 57sec.

Williams said: “It was so cool to race on the track and see the skid marks from the cars that have gone before us.”

In the 11-14 age group for girls’ duathlon, the UK’s Amber Harding finished first in a time of in 15:16.
