Following the success of the first-ever event in February, the second race of the season promises to be even better with a new Supersprint Course, in addition to the Short Course, to be held on April 15 at Oceanic Hotel Resort and Spa, Khorfakkan.

Athletes of all abilities and experience can compete either as part of a team of three or individually in the two categories.

The Short Course is an 800-metre open water swim, followed by a 30km cycle and finally a 7km run.

For children as young as 10 years old, the Supersprint Course is the perfect way to get into the sport of triathlon with a 375m swim, 12km cycle and 2.5km run.

Participants will get the chance to swim in the Oceanic Hotel’s natural bay, cycle through the rollings hills of Khorfakkan and run through the Khorfakkan Corniche en route to the finish line.

“I am delighted to see the Oceanic Triathlon Series return to Khorfakkan for the second time in a matter of months,” said race director Trace Rogers.

The short course also inlcudes a 30km cycle race.

“In addition to our Short Course route athletes can now opt to compete in our Supersprint Course which is ideal for those new to triathlon or children as young as 10. Whether you are a seasoned triathlete or competing for the first time the Oceanic Triathlon Series has something for you.”

For those wanting to make a weekend of it, the Oceanic Hotel is offering an exclusive accommodation package with a room from Dh500.

Ian Phillips, Oceanic Hotel Resort and Spa, Khorfakkan general manager, said: “The Oceanic Triathlon Series gives us the opportunity to once again showcase the beauty of Khorfakkan, and the Oceanic Resort as an ideal venue to the triathlon community and their family and friends alike.

“We are very excited to promote the region and sporting activities to the utmost level and look forward in welcoming you here once more.”
