Going Out: Push your boundaries at the final race of JLL Triathlon Series

More than 200 people have already signed up for the third and final race of the JLL Triathlon series this weekend but there’s still time to join them before Tuesday’s deadline.

At the stunning Jebel Ali Golf Resort in Dubai, you can swim, cycle and run around the course with proceedings getting underway from 06:45 on Saturday.

The previous two editions of the season have been hugely popular, attracting more than 350 athletes of different abilities. That is no surprise given that triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in the UAE with many community events scheduled throughout the year.

And organisers Race ME are encouraging not to miss out with different distances to choose from across the two categories.

If you’re trying out for the first time or are an intermediate, then there’s the Super Sprint course. Split into junior (11 to 14-years), youth (15 to 18), open (19 to 39), vet (40 to 49) and super vet (50 and above), it consists of a 375m swim, a 10km bike ride and a 2.5km run.

For those who have plenty of experience and want to test themselves further, there is the Sprint category.

Open to athletes aged 15 and above, participants will undertake a 750m swim followed by a 20km bike ride and then a 5km run.

Get on board: Registration for the race closes Tuesday, January 12.

All those who finish the race will be handed a medal for their efforts.

“The entry numbers so far have been very encouraging with more than 250 signing up,” said Paul Venn of Race ME.

“While it’s a big number we expect that number to only increase to possibly beyond 300 as there is still time to register and it’s also the last race of the triathlon series.

“With it being the start of the new year and people coming back from their festive holidays, we expect this to be another successful event.”

Having lived in the UAE for more than five years, Venn has seen the profile of the sport grow with preceding races attracting new participants and expects Saturday’s event will be no different.

“We get a lot of new people sign up and that is very pleasing to see. The more people who are new to the sport sign up, the more successful it is as it sends out a strong message that anyone can do triathlons. It doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old, it’s just about getting off the couch and doing more exercise. What better way to start than doing the triathlon on Saturday?”

It’s is a perfect opportunity to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
