Dubai College Under-18s team lived up to their favourites tag by claiming their fourth-consecutive DC Rugby 10s title last week.

Despite being hosts, they didn’t buckle under the pressure as they defeated Dubai English Speaking College (DESC) 10-0 in the title match.

The victory is another fantastic achievement for the Dubai outfit, having won all their matches en route to their Gulf Boy’s championship at the Dubai Sevens in December.

The final was just one of many competitive games in the two-day tournament as more than 500 players from UAE schools – ranging from eight-years and above – competed across six age groups.

Dubai College also triumphed in the U-13s category, beating Abu Dhabi’s British School Al Khubairat 50-5.

 The U-11s crown went to GEMS Wellington Academy – Dubai Silicon Oasis after winning 24-5 against Dubai English Speaking School.

In the U-12s final, DESC overcame Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) 58-5 to remain unbeaten in all competitions, while Repton won 12-10 against DESC in the U-14s title.

Dubai College were denied their third triumph when JESS earned a hard-fought 12-7 win over the hosts in the U-16s encounter.

Before proceedings, a minute’s silence was held in memory of Arabian Knights club founder and chairman Neil Palmer, who died of a heart attack last month, aged 43.

Emirates Future International Academy become inter-school kings

Emirates Future International Academy (EFIA) stunned Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS) to win their maiden Under-14s UAE Exchange Centre inter-school title.

The champions were clinical from the start with Bhanu Sreekar, Umair Asghar and Ayman Maab all claiming two wickets each as ADIS were bowled out for 90 at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.

Despite the low score, EFIA stuck to their basics and Ishit Patel’s 34 helped them reach their target with three overs to spare to register a comfortable seven-wicket victory.

Earlier, Maab gave EFIA the early breakthrough dismissing Sahil Hariani for a duck as ADIS were 12-1. Matters got worse as Zayed Sheikh (0) soon followed with the scoreline reading 20-2.

However, Jonathan Figy restored the innings as his 36 and Sailles Jaishankar (18) took the score to 53 before the latter top edged a delivery from Sagar Binu.

Chasing, Patel was in inspiring form and shared a half-century stand for the second wicket with Yasif Ali (19). When Patel was dismissed, eight was needed to win and EFIA soon wrapped up victory.
