Kyle Rohan Dutton is making it a habit of winning medals after clinching gold for The Millennium School (TMS) in the CBSE National Athletics meet in India.

The 16-year-old Dubai pupil lined up in the Under-17 100m duel and showed no signs of buckling under pressure in the final, crossing the finish line in an impressive 11.31 seconds.

The feat was more remarkable considering the annual competition attracted more than 2,500 athletes from India, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia at the Urmi School in Gujarat.

Dutton’s previous achievements include a long jump bronze medal in the CBSE Nationals and the youngster was thrilled to have topped the podium in India.

“The 100m was quite challenging but once I crossed the line, I felt not only ecstatic but also a sense of a big relief,” he said. “I feel honoured to bring glory to not just myself and family but to The Millenium School.”

His athletics coach, Selvarani Afsal lauded Dutton’s achievements.

She said: “It’s great to see Kyle win in India and it’s been his dedication and determination that have been the key elements to his successes so far.”

Michael Guzder, school principal of TMS, added: “It’s another feather on his cap. We wish Kyle more success in his future tournaments that he undertakes in the future.”
