The boys’ under-13 GEMS Modern Academy team won the MGS Vision Cup after defeating Indian High School Dubai by 40 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, GEMS Modern Academy posted 134 for 8 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Indian High School were all out for 94.

Tushar Tugnait, who had scored back-to-back centuries for GEMS, was dismissed on 17.

As wickets fell, GEMS Modern Academy’s Varun Naynar kept his nerve, patiently taking singles while punishing the bad balls.

Naynar, who had scored 30 off 31 balls, batted until the 18th over and fell soon after, but not before ensuring a respectable score for his team. Indian High School failed to come together as a unit.

Elred Rego, who stole the limelight in the previous match with a 16-ball half century, scored 18 off 11 balls but was dismissed while trying to step up the run rate.

Utkarsh Agrawal scored 13 off 19 balls and Glen Furtado’s 10 off 14 balls was not enough to take them past the finish line.

Merryland beat ADIS in thriller

Merryland International School clinched a nine-run thriller over Abu Dhabi Indian School (ADIS) in the ADCB Abu Dhabi Inter-School U14 tournament final to claim a trophy double.

Coming off a successful campaign in the U16 tournament, the U14 side produced an all-round effort to get the better of the defending champions at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket stadium.

Nasir Abdullah was 49 not out as Merryland posted 154 for 2.

In reply, ADIS managed 145 for 8.

Akhilesh Ramesh top-scored with 43, while Huzaifah Khan finished with 2-25.
