With the Abu Dhabi International School Sports Association (ADISSA) Under-11s event attracting strong teams from across the capital, ADGS had to be in top form to emerge champions and they certainly did that.

They finished first in their group with a perfect round with victories over Brighton College, Raha, British International School Abu Dhabi and BSAK.

In the semi-finals, they overcame Pearl Primary, although they needed penalties (to win 4-3) to book their place in the final after it ended goalless in regulation time.

They then faced familiar foes BSAK, having beaten them 2-1 in their group game. With all to play for, both sides played to their strengths and created goal-scoring opportunities.

But Al Mohana found his scoring boots to net twice as ADGS held on for a memorable 2-1 triumph.

Coach Sorin Petcu, said: “The boys were crying after winning because it’s such a fantastic feat. It’s a big result for the boys, the school and for me.

“They worked so hard because we were struggling to win a match before this. And yet, they showed great determination and spirit to win this tournament.”
