The Millennium School Dubai raised a staggering Dh27,815 for Dubai Cares after hundreds of pupils showcased their sporting abilities in the Fitness Fiesta.

The event, which aims to promote healthy lifestyles and raise self-confidence, attracted a postive turn-out and it was no surprise to see the students embracing the opportunity, with boys taking to the field in a series of football games, while girls took to the court for throwball matches.

Besides staying fit, the emphasis was also for the youths to work as a team and communicate to their team-mates – skills that can help them in their everyday lives.

It is the latest sporting achievement for The Millennium School, who are no strangers to sporting prowess, having enjoyed much success in competitions both in the UAE as well as abroad.

Michael Guzder, principle of the school, said: “Integrating fitness into a fundraising initiative was a novel way to raise funds in a way that students enjoy.

“We believe that lessons learnt on the sports field are as important as those learnt in the classroom and will hold students in good stead even after they graduate.”
