Du have netted the Ramadan Corporate Basketball League title after beating Claw BBQ 50-41.

A thrilling encounter at Dubai Sports World saw Claw BBQ live up to their name, clawing back a 16-point deficit at one stage to get back into contention in the second half, but Du held firm to eventually claim the coveted title.

Claw’s Joseph Almedo was undoubtedly the star of the final, despite seeing his team falling short, claiming more than half of his team’s tally with an impressive 25 points. Kamil Kapkaev led the way for the winners, netting 15 points to set Du on the road to glory.

Du had claimed a final place by beating Dubai Knights 60-53 in their last four clash, while Claw grabbed a tilt at the trophy with a 53-44 triumph against Hoopers in the other semi-final.

Despite their exertions, both teams had just 10 minutes to get ready for the championship game.

Du stretched out to a 16-point half-time lead before some words of encouragement saw Claw surge back to make a fight of it.

It was neck and neck before Du pulled away once again in the closing stages to begin their reign as the Duplays Ramadan Corporate Basketball League champions.

Victorious Du skipper Alexander Vishvakanth said: “We really enjoyed the league and will surely play again next year.

Throughout the tournament there was a great atmosphere at Dubai Sports World because lot of sports people were all there in one place.”
