Imperial Knights and DPS Sharjah take top honours in Berry Hills Indian Basketball League

Imperial Knights and DPS Sharjah were crowned champions of the men’s and women’s categories as the Berry Hills Indian Basketball League came to a close.

At the Salah Al Deen Indoor Hall in Al Mamzar, Dubai, Imperial Knights did enough to beat Nucaf Beatrice 74-62.

Knights started the game positively and soon took a 28-16 lead.

After that the Knights never looked back and grew in confidence as the match went on. Nucaf Beatrice had no answer in stopping Shankar Viswanath, who was in fine form, tallying 11 points while his team-mate Shashi Kumar added another nine points to his team’s tally.

With the half-time scores reading 44-29, Nucaf Beatrice put some pressure on Knights but the latter continued to score to eventually seal a 74-62 victory.

In the women’s category, DPS Sharjah put on a superb show to stun Earnest Eagles 51-44 while DPS Dubai beat Our Own English High School, Sharjah to lift the Under-19 Inter-School title. 

While the winners and runnersup received medals, organisers also handed out trophies and vouchers to the top three players in a wide range of categories including the most valuable player, top scorers and best three-point shooters.

The finals marked the end of the 10th edition of the 40-day competition which attracted 36 teams and featured more than 450 players.
