Basketbolista, a multi-brand basketball merchandise store has launched on Al Mankhool Road, Al Satwa in Dubai.

The new store is 120 sq ft and houses all of the top brands such as Nike, Jordan, Under Armour and Adidas.

The store stocks the hottest products in the latest basketball footwear, gear and accessories.

Basketbolista is a result of nine months of planning, insights and market research that local company GMG undertook before deciding to open the new concept.

Commenting on the store opening, Mohammad A. Baker, Deputy Chairman of Gulf Marketing Group said: “‘Basketbolista’ means basketball player in Tagalog. Our new store is a testament to our commitment to cultivating the thriving basketball culture in Dubai amongst the Filipino community. We are proud to launch the new store and to be able to offer the avid basketball consumer the best products in the segment.”

He adds: “The concept comes from within our GMG vision to enable sports to all communities across the region; we learnt our consumer and created a concept that can service their needs. We are really looking forward to playing a part in fostering the local Filipino community’s passion for the sport.”

Basketbolista also hosted their first ever 3×3 competition on Friday at the Arab Park Basketball Court in Satwa, where 32 teams competed and showed off their skills in the hopes of  winning 4,000 AED. Trojan team won the tournament, taking away the top prize.
