Dubai International Marine Club to host numerous festivities for National Sports Day

Sports fans in Dubai can take part in more than 50 planned events for the inaugural National Sports Day.

Dubai International Marine Club will pose as the official headquarters from which the Dubai Sports Council will coordinate festivities taking place across 24 hours on land, sea and in the air, in all corners of the emirate, including Al Awir and Hatta.

Sports academies, clubs, institutions and corporations will all be hosting various events and activities which will begin at midnight on November 24 and conclude at midnight on November 25.

Among the list of competitions and activities planned is a 24-hour treadmill challenge, that will feature Ironmen Mohamed Bilal and Osman Safi, a Guinness World Record attempt for steps taken while walking on your knees, along with football, handball, footy-tennis, rugby, badminton, cycling, table tennis, billiards, hockey, jiu-jitsu, boxing, fencing, water sports, fitness challenges, body building, zumba and tug of war. 

“Sport in the UAE is becoming a way of life and each day we hold a different event that brings with it countless benefits to our society in every field,” said Saeed Hareb, the secretary general of Dubai Sports Council. 

A yoga day will take place at the office of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid, the Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of Dubai Sports Council, 8:00-15:00.
