Enjoy the outdoors during the winter months by playing badminton at the Ripe Market this month, leading up to the Dubai World Superseries Finals.

Following the overwhelming popularity of the free indoor courts at Dubai Sports World this summer, Shuttle Time Dubai is continuing the fun with a free badminton court available in Zabeel Park each Friday throughout November.

The first Friday of the month saw plenty of people come out to take advantage of the cool weather, with the mascots of Shuttle Time Dubai and the Dubai World Superseries Finals entertaining both children and adults.

Whether you’re a lover of badminton or just want to try the sport out, the Ripe Market is the perfect opportunity to do so as the game continues to develop in the UAE, thanks in part to Dubai hosting the World Superseries Finals each December until 2017.

The Badminton World Federation’s grassroots programme Shuttle Time has also been introduced through the community and schools and has drawn increased participation across the emirate.

As well as taking part in a healthy activity, participants who head to Ripe Market to play will also be entered into a draw to win season tickets for the Dubai World Superseries Finals, which will run at Hamdan Sports Complex from December 9-13.

The tournament will bring the top eight players in the Destination Dubai rankings in singles, doubles and mixed doubles to compete for a share of a million dollar prize pool. To qualify, players have to amass points from 12 MetLife BWF Superseries Tournaments held across the world throughout the year.

The last two Superseries before the top-ranked players head to Dubai are the China Open, which concluded yesterday, and the Hong Kong Open, starting tomorrow and going until November 22.
