One of the best finishers in world football, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was born to a Bosnian father and Croatian mother on this day in 1981 in Malmo, Sweden.

A polarising figure in the sport due to his fiery temperament and perceived arrogance, Ibrahimovic’s talents have seen him star for title winning clubs in eight consecutive seasons.

The Sweden international started his career at Malmo FF in 1999, helping the second-division club make the leap to the first level the following season. He then won two Dutch titles with Ajax before adding more trophies to his resume in the Serie A.

He earned his first top-scorer award with Inter Milan in 2009 and won another with AC Milan in 2012. He’s been the Ligue 1 top-scorer for the past two seasons with PSG. In internationals, Ibrahimovic is Sweden’s all-time leading scorer with 57 goals.

1959: Fred Couples, American World Golf Hall of Famer, won the Masters in 1992 (56).

1974: Marianne Timmer, Dutch speed skater, won three Olympic gold medals, two in 1998 and one in 2006 (41).

1985: Courtney Lee, American NBA player, plays for the Memphis Grizzlies (30).

1986: Jackson Martinez, Colombian footballer, plays as a striker for Atletico Madrid and Colombia (29).
