The finalists in the volleyball and padel tennis were decided as the third Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Ramadan Sports Tournament heads to a conclusion this weekend.

Dubai 2021 and Innovate set up a mouth-watering clash in the volleyball final with contrasting wins, while Emilio Misas and Pedro Rios defeated Guillermo Villafane and Jordi Hernandez in straight sets to ease into the padel tennis men’s open final.

While Dubai 2021 brushed aside Fohood Zabeel in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-21), Surprise put up a gallant show before going down in four sets (26-24, 19-25, 18-25, 17- 25) against a sprightly Innovate in the two volleyball semi-finals.

In padel tennis, the last preliminary round match for the men’s open was a one-sided affair as Misas and Rios won 6-2, 6-1 to set up a final meeting against unbeaten pair of Alexander Farquharson and Javier Lopez Garcia. German Zunica and Hassan Sharif will take on Villafane and Hernandez in the fight for third place.

The UAE Nationals final will see the country’s top tennis player Omar Behroozian and Mohammed Al Janahi take on the Ahli brothers, Mohammed and Abdullah, after the siblings fought back from a break down to win 7-5, 6-2 over Sheikh Saeed Bin Hasher Al Maktoum and Omar Sharif.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Mike Andrews and India’s Sanjay Prabhu picked up gold medals in contrasting style on the final day of the archery competition.

Andrews, who holds a dual nationality with Great Britain and Australia, got the better of Abu- Dhabi-based Saeed Al Tamimi of Yemen 7-3 in the Recurve Men’s resident category.

And Prabhu’s gold medal in the Compound Men’s category came without any contest as his opponent Wissam Torbay failed to turn up for the championship decider due to work commitments.
