More than 300 people including the youngsters and their parents descended on the GEMS Wellington Silicon Oasis to celebrate a successful season.

Awards were given to each squad member in six different age groups – U6, U8, U10, U12 Junior, U12 Senior and Youth, while some players received accolades after nominations from coaches and their team-mates.

Among the winners on the night were Jay Baisley (11), Ahmed El Tounsey (13) and Alex Hupe (15), who each received the top award – ‘Club Man of the Year’.

The trio were chosen after showing great initiative with their commitment, dedication and leadership.

Terry Kidd, academy director, said: “We couldn’t separate one from the three and we decided to give the award to all three. They all showed fantastic individual characteristics and strength throughout this season.

“To be chosen for this award is like being an icon for our club and they’ve shown their peers what every footballer should be.”

Mohammad Taha was awarded with the ‘Goal of the Season’ accolade, who received his prize from UAE FA technical director, Dr Malouche.

Kidd added: “For us it was our chance to thank our players  for their commitment, loyalty and performance throughout the year.”
