Skating in Dubai year-round will become even easier with Zoo Skatepark officially launching and opening their cool indoor venue to the public with a Free Skate Day this Friday.

Self-proclaimed as the “biggest indoor skate park in Dubai”, Zoo is holding a Free Skate Day where anyone can come down and skate without any cost between noon and 18:00 with the chance of winning giveaways and prizes.

A concept of Ignite Xtreme and located at warehouse number one on Al Manara Street, the skate park boasts an impressive air conditioned facility with the highest quality of ramps for skateboarders, scooter riders and other skate enthusiasts.

“We were looking for an indoor venue, which is obviously air-conditioned and safe, where people could keep active and keep moving through 12 months of the year,” said co-founder Guillaume Mariole.

“The great thing about skating is that it brings a lot of different cultures and it brings kids as well as adults together. Everyone loves to skate.”

The park already had a soft launch in April and has been since gauging the interest in skating in the region and how they can improve the facility.

According to Mariole, the reception has been positive and also given the park time to provide the best product possible.

“We’ve received great feedback regarding the ramps and what we have done at the venue,” he said. “What we did was set up a beginner section, there’s an intermediate section and then you’ve got the more experienced section for the skaters. So we’ve appealed to a broad audience especially when it comes to that demographic.

“Listening to what the skaters want meant that we were able to fine-tune things and provide a venue that was what the community wanted. We’ve been holding on to the soft launch now for a few months because we wanted to make sure we delivered something that people wanted.”

Zoo Skatepark also houses a mini shop where skaters can purchase locally and internationally designed decks and accessories. In addition, they offer skating lessons, host birthday parties and have food and refreshments to keep skaters fueled.

Admission rates from Sunday to Thursday are Dh30 for a one hour pass, Dh40 for one session, or Dh70 for a full day. On Friday and Saturday, the price is Dh35 for one hour, Dh50 for one session and Dh80 for the entire day.

The park is open daily from noon to 20:00 on Friday and Saturday and from 13:00 to 19:00 on weekdays.
