Fawad Jumeirah storm into NAS futsal tournament’s last eight

Fawad Jumeirah continued their domination at the Nad Al Sheba Ramadan Tournament by closing out the final futsal group game with a convincing win over Julmood.

Despite already qualifying from Group B for the last eight, Jumeirah throttled Julmood 15-0 with Brazilian star Thiago de Almeida leading the way with four scores in each half and Fahad Abdulrahman adding a brace.

Meanwhile, X-Cat beat Al Amid 7-2 in the other Group B game and earned the second qualifying berth.

In another game, Al Joker prevailed in a defensive battle in Group A with a 1-0 victory over Al Esar as Omar Abdullah Saleh provided the lone score.

Expo2020 responded to losses in their first two Group A matches by beating Al Khowaneej 2-0.

In padel tennis, Hennie Mouton and Tom Praming defeated Francisco Lopez and Francisco Javier in the men’s open category, 7-6, 6-0, 10-7.

In the second match, Hassan and Eisa Sharif beat Juan Calles and Sergio Lopez 6-4, 6-2, 10-6.

Zayed Abbas and Ali Al Qaiwani were successful in the UAE National category, edging out Ahmed Sharif and Ahmad Al Kitbe to set up a meeting with Omar Behroozian and Abdularahman Al Janahi.

Hala Madrid fought back after dropping the opening set to overcome Valencia 2-1 in the teams’ competition.

The squash competition saw Amir Khan ease past Nitin Ramchandani with a 11-6, 11-4, 11-4 victory, while Faheem Khan beat David Eadie 11-7, 11-4, 11-7 as both advanced to the third round.

The NAS Tournament, which kicked off with the opening ceremony on June 29, will run for three weeks with prize money of over Dh7 million on offer to more than 3,000 participants in six different sporting disciplines.
