Dubai’s Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) and committed Los Angeles Lakers basketball fan, has launched another personal advertising campaign to support his all-time favourite team.

This year the centre point of Bin Sulayem’s ‘STAY’ advertising campaign is Nick Young, the American professional NBA ‘shooting guard’, in a bid to keep the star in play at Los Angeles Lakers for another season.

The two-week long outdoor campaign, which launched on 21 June, includes advertising trucks, bus stops, benches and billboards, and surrounds the Los Angeles Lakers Staples Stadium.

Commenting on the initiative, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said: “These campaigns are not just about creating noise they are all about supporting legends that deserve recognition for their continuous drive that inspires and exceeds expectations of millions of fans and supporters every day.

"In my view, Nick Young epitomises exactly that and it would be amazing to see him in action at LA Lakers next season as well. So much has happened in a year particularly for those who kept embracing challenges, saw the opportunities ahead and never gave up.

Bin Sulayem's first ad campaign was aimed at supporting Lakers legend Kobe Bryant after he suffered a career-threatening achillies injury.

He took out advertising in the LA Time and the results were extraordinary.

The Emirati's series of advertisements last year ended up with Bryant visiting the UAE to help promote a DMCC project in the NBA star's name as well as bring worldwide attention to the country's sporting pedigree.

"That ad has a lot to answer for," said Bin Sulayem of the LA Times promotion. "Not only did it indirectly lead to Kobe Bryant later visiting Dubai to support DMCC’s Kobe Bryant Health and Fitness weekend – it is also proof of how Dubai’s determination to succeed on the global arena generates results.

"The same ad featured a Dubai Expo 2020 bid candidate logo, take a look at this year’s campaign and you will see that Dubai succeeded in that – we will be hosting the Expo 2020. It just goes to show that anything is possible with hard work, determination and a ‘never give up’ attitude – much like the spirit of Dubai and the LA Lakers team.”
