The Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants squared off for Super Bowl XXXV on this day in 2001.

The game saw the NFL’s two hottest teams pitted against one another with the Ravens entering the showpiece on a 10-game winning streak and the Giants riding a seven-game streak.

But the Ravens defence, led by a ferocious linebacking corps which featured Ray Lewis, Jamie Sharper and Peter Boulware, dominated.

The Giants’ offence scored no points with their only score coming on a kickoff return. They punted 11 times and turned it over five times, four on interceptions thrown by Kerry Collins.

The Ravens cruised to a 34-7 win for their first ever Super Bowl success.
