AB de Villiers’ reputation as one of the most-devastating batsmen in limited-overs history was secured on this day, two years ago.

The South African superstar put in a relentless performance as the West Indies were massacred in Johannesburg. The wicketkeeper notched both the fastest fifty and fastest century in a remarkable innings.

The first mark was reached in 16 balls, one less than Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya in 1996.

He also bettered New Zealand’s Corey Anderson’s quickest ton by five balls, doing it in just 31 deliveries.

Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw also made hundreds in the game, which saw South Africa cruise to 439 from their 50 overs.
