One of the closest shaves in sporting history occured on this day, 11 years ago. Power forward David Lee managed to pull off a victory courtesy of a margin of time usually only seen in Formula One qualifying races.

His game-winning basket from a tip-in for the New York Knicks during the double-overtime contest against the Charlotte Bobcats came with only 00:00.1 seconds left on the clock.

The shot counted because Lee deflected an inbounds pass into the basket. It was the first occurrence of a team winning an NBA game with one-tenth of a second left since the competition implemeted the so-called ‘Trent Tucker Rule’ in 1990.
