Philippe Coutinho jabbed Liverpool ahead inside five minutes, but Everton hit back three minutes later through Kevin Mirallas.

The Reds were in front again midway through the first half via Luis Suarez’s brilliant 25-yard free-kick.

The Toffees restored parity through Romelu Lukaku in the 72nd minute and 10 minutes later he thumped home a header to put Everton ahead.

But the blue half of Liverpool were left singing the blues when Daniel Sturridge flicked home Steven Gerrard’s free-kick one minute from time.
