The England’s captain’s trademark set-piece goal, which arrived in the last minute to secure a 2-2 draw against Greece and book England’s place at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, will forever be remembered.

But it wasn’t just Beckham’s superb free-kick that day, it was the then Manchester United star’s all-round contribution.

To use a Sunday League football analogy, the midfielder was everywhere on the pitch – chasing, harrying, tackling and leading his country firmly from the front.
