Happy Birthday – July 24 – Lukas Rosol, Barry Bonds, Zaheer Abbas

Lukas Rosol, Czech world No54 tennis player who is famous for beating Rafael Nadal at 2012 Wimbledon was born July 24, 1985.

The Spaniard was then the World No2 but was ousted by Rosol in the second round of Wimbledon.

A year later, the Czech featured in the longest ever ATP doubles match as he paired up with Tomáš Berdych to beat Marco Chiudinelli and Stanislas Wawrinka in the first round of the Davis Cup.

1919: Ferdinand Kubler – winner of 1950 Tour de France and event’s oldest surviving former champion (97).

1947: Zaheer Abbas – former Pakistan and Gloucestershire batsman (69).

1964: Barry Bonds – Major League Baseball great whose legacy has been tarnished by doping allegations (52).
