A newly formed working group, chaired by H.E. Aref Al Awani of Abu Dhabi Sports Council and comprised of leaders in Abu Dhabi’s sport industry, met Sunday for the first time to discuss ways to increase youth participation in sport.

The working group was formed following the third Annual Sport Industry Forum which took place earlier in the year in April at Zayed Sports City, where development of grassroots sport was highlighted as a key priority in the journey to a healthier nation.

Discussions focused on how to make sport more accessible for youth, raise awareness of existing activities in the community, and coordinate efforts across the government and private sectors.

Hosted by Abu Dhabi Sports Council at their offices, and organised by INTERACT, the meeting was attended by representatives from brands, event organisers, venue operators, suppliers, government stakeholders, and other industry influencers including Sport 360.

The group will meet on a regular basis to take forward new initiatives.
